M. Yvonne Mansfield
Marjorie Yvonne Mansfield (known to all as “Yvonne”) of Novi, Michigan, passed away May 6, 2024, at the age of 99 in Novi, Michigan. She was born March 24, 1925, in Love Community, Texas to William and “Bessie” Love.
She was preceded in death by her husband, D. Clayton Mansfield, and youngest son, Kent T. Cox.
She is survived by her sons and daughter: Jimmy Cox (Reba); Bobby Cox (Sandra); Rick Cox (Diane); Mark Cox (Katie); and Lynda Batterson. She is also survived by her 17 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was the epitome of a life well-lived. Her life was long and storied, full of adventures.
The twelfth child in a family of thirteen, she was the first in her family to receive a high school diploma. For thirty years she was a cattle rancher and dairy farmer, along with her husband, F.M. Cox, in Texas, Colorado and Missouri. In her fifties she re-located to Michigan to begin a 35-year career in manufacturing.
After moving to Michigan, she learned to sail. Many days and weeks were devoted to pursuing this passion with her late husband, Clayton. She loved to travel, and often reminisced about the highlights of her journeys, including a trip to St. Petersburg, Russia.
But, most of all, she loved her family. She always provided support and love for her family. She remembered the birthdays of all her children and all their children!
She was an exceptional woman, full of life and love. We were all very blessed to have been part of her family and her life. She will be deeply missed by the many family, friends, and neighbors she influenced during her long life.
Friends may gather on Saturday, May 11, 2024 beginning at 1:00 P.M. until the time of the Memorial Service beginning at 3:00 P.M. to be officiated by Reverend Matthew Dowling.
