Yolanda Kertesz

Yolanda Kertesz of Dearborn Heights, Michigan passed away at the age of 76 on July 18, 2024. In addition to being a wife, mother, homemaker, aunt and great aunt, Yolanda worked as an administrative assistant in payroll at Ford Motor Company. She was born in Detroit, Michigan, on August 9, 1947, to the late Joseph and Irene (nee Porch) Jelics and grew up in Delray, Michigan.

Throughout her life and career, Yolanda exemplified commitment and professionalism. Her work at Ford Motor was not just a job but a dedication to a quality performance. She will be remembered for her reliability and kindness on the job, ready to lend a helping hand where and when needed.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Yolanda's true legacy lies in the love and care she shared with her family and friends. Her husband of 22 years, the late Steve Kertesz, was a partner, friend and soulmate who shared in her joys and stood by her through life's challenges. She is survived by her son Stephen Kertesz, whose life she enriched with unconditional love and unwavering support.

Yolanda had a close relationship with her brother Joe Jelics and his wife Gale, who will miss her dearly and their daily conversations. She also leaves a circle of relatives and friends who enjoyed her company. Her nieces Shannon (Scott) Cullen and Stacey (David) Mefford, along with her nephew Jonas (Valerie) Maironis, will remember their aunt for her warmth and generosity.

In celebration of Yolanda’s life, there will be a two-day visitation from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, July 22, 2024 and from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth, Michigan 48170. A rosary will be offered at 7:00 P.M., Tuesday at the Funeral Home.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at the Church of the Divine Child, 1055 North Silvery Lane, Dearborn, Michigan 48128. A visitation beginning at 9:30 A.M. will precede the Funeral Mass.

A devote Catholic and proud of her Hungarian heritage, those wishing to remember Yolanda in a special way may, in lieu of flowers, make a donation in her memory to the Church of the Divine Child or the Holy Cross Hungarian Catholic Church, 8423 South Street, Detroit, MI 48209.
