William Ross Zirblis

February 7, 1927 — March 10, 2015

Passed away at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak on Tuesday, March 10, 2015. Bill was born in Alliance, Ohio on February 7, 1927 the son of George and Pauline ( nee Gazanes ) Zvirblis who farmed in the general area. He graduated from high school in Marboro, Oho. After high school Bill enlisted in the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Kershaw as a Motor Machinist's Mate during the end of world War II. Upon completion of his naval service Bill earned his B.A. degree from Wayne State University. Later he earned his Masters of Arts from Central Michigan University. He worked for Livonia as an assistant director of Parks and Recreation for a good twenty years then moving to Plymouth to become the Director of Parks and Recreation, retiring in 1977. Bill enjoyed all sports and was a devoted fan of the Tigers and also of Ohio State football. He also enjoyed music and dancing. His wives, Josephine and later Judith, both preceded him in death and he is survived by his daughter Linda ( Ted ) Bender. Also surviving are his grandchildren Dr, Ted ( Thy ) Bender and William Bender; great grandchildren Dominic and Maia Bender; nephew Otto ( Zella ) Matthies; step-children Mark ( Lisa ) Jordan, Scott Jordan and step-grandchildren David and Lucas. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1 pm until the time of the funeral service at 4:45 pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth
