William A. McFarlane, age 76 passed away on November 29, 2023.
He is the beloved and devoted husband of 50 years to Sharon; loving father to James (Lindsay) McFarlane and Meghan (Bradley) Winslow and proud grandfather of Benjamin and Lucas McFarlane and William and Olivia Winslow. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his sister Peggy M. Haines and his longtime friend Edward Miller. He is pre-deceased by his parents, John and Charlotte McFarlane, his brother-in-law Andrew Haines. He is survived by his brother-in-law, Robert Witek (Karen).
William graduated in 1965 from Willow Run High School. He later graduated from Eastern Michigan University. He was a leader in his community. He was appointed Head Detective in the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s office, served for 20 years as the Township Supervisor in Superior Township and also served on the Washtenaw County Road Commission for six years.
He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in 1968 to 1969 under George Patton, Jr. William was awarded two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts.
Friends may visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth, Michigan on Friday, December 1, 2023 from 1:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Resurrection Catholic Church, 48755 Warren Road, Canton, Michigan beginning at 10:00 A.M.
