William John Mitchell, formerly of Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, passed away January 2, 2019. He was 84 years old. William was born on October 22, 1934, to William and Kathryn (nee Bramlage) Mitchell. William is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Helen (nee Paul) Mitchell. He is also survived by three loving children: William (Vicki) Mitchell Jr., Michael (Kathryn Kristoff) Mitchell, and Thomas Mitchell; four cherished grandchildren: Elizabeth (Bradley) Stalder, Mary Kate (Joseph) Lane, Stephen (Emily) Hogan Mitchell, and Patrick; and two precious great-grandchildren: Katherine and Mary Stalder. William was preceded in death by both his parents and his beloved daughter, Anne Marie Mitchell.
William graduated from Drexel University in 1959 with a BS in Electrical Engineering and went on to serve his country in the United States Army. He reached the rank of Captain in the Army Corps of Engineers. He was licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) and was certified with the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE). William went on to work in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Jackson, Michigan; and San Francisco, California, returning to Philadelphia where he retired in 1996 from the Philadelphia Electric Company.
William was a lifelong Eagles and Phillies fan. He was also blessed to coach his sons in Little League Baseball in Plymouth Meeting and in the Conshohocken Football League, where he served as president for a year. William truly loved his family, and he especially looked forward to when his grandchildren and great-grandchildren would come to visit him.
A Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be Saturday, January 5, at 12pm at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 47650 N. Territorial, Plymouth, Michigan 48170. William will be in state at the Church beginning at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to EWTN, 5817 Old Leeds Road, Irondale, AL 35210.
