William “Bill” Dingeldey, age 82 of Mikado, Michigan passed away on August 14, 2024.
Bill was born in Canton, Michigan on February 2, 1942 to his parents, the late Beatrice Dorothea (née Searle) and Philip Stanley Dingeldey. Bill is the beloved and devoted husband of 46 years to the late Carolyn Jane Dingeldey who passed away on March 24, 2020. He is the loving father of two children – Steven Dingeldey and Melinda (fiancée Joe Lundstedt) Hewer; proud grandfather of Austin (Mary) Dingeldey, Zachary (Arika) Bramigk, Ian (Kourtney) Bramigk, Reece Bramigk and great-grandfather of Blake, Reagan, Kade and Braxton. He is deeply loved and will be missed by his siblings Diane (Greg) Jefferson, Karen Schweim and Richard (Mary) Dingeldey. He also is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his cousin, Billy (Brenda) Searle.
Bill proudly served his country with dedication, devotion and an enduring commitment in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
After his discharge from military service, he secured employment as an Assembler with the Ford Motor Company and gave 33-years with loyalty and unwavering dedication to whatever job they assigned. Bill often shared that he NEVER missed a day of work and frequently worked extra if asked. He made friendships that lasted long after his retirement.
After retiring from Ford Motor Company, he was known to be a “tinkerer” who enjoyed working on various projects in his pole barn, maintaining his 20 acres and enjoying the trails he meticulously maintained with the tractor he had since he left home.
He loved hunting in his younger years. This was what inspired him to move north and have private property he could hunt. Later to find he enjoyed feeding the deer just so he could watch them from his windows every evening. Nature was his source of peace and happiness.
Lastly, Bill’s family tells us that he never met a stranger. He truly enjoyed talking to anyone who would listen. Always had a story to tell. Bill would often drop by unannounced just because he had someone on his mind and wanted to see how they were. If he could take you out to eat, he was really excited.
