William Thomson was born in Detroit, MI on October 1, 1922 to Donald and Christina Thomson of Argyll, Scotland.
He attended Henry Ford Trade School before enlisting in the United States Navy where he served his country in the construction battalion (Seabees) in the Philippines during World War II. Using the G. I. Bill he continued his education at Lawrence Institute of Technology where he received an Associate Engineer degree in Production Tool Design Technology. In the early 1960s he started his own tool and die business where he employed several of his nephews and future brothers-in-law.
In 1968 he married Susan Ruth and they had two daughters Heather (Drew) Gruenhagen and Susanne (Steve) Burns, and six grandchildren, Ian, Emilia, Callum, Anthony, Alieda, and Julia.
William and Susan were blessed to celebrate 50 years of marriage and enjoyed spending time with their friends and family.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 17, from 3-8pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main St., Plymouth, 48170. His Funeral Service will be Thursday, April 18, at 11am at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, 14175 Farmington Road, Livonia, 48154. Family and friends may begin visiting the Church at 10am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lutheran High School Westland.
