Wendell Ellis

November 11, 1922 — October 23, 2010

Passed away October 23, 2010 at the age of 87. Wendell was born in Washington, IN on November 11, 1922 the son of James B. and Minnie (Cissell) Ellis where he resided until 1941 when he came to the Detroit area. He served with the 610th United States Army Air Corps during World War II stationed at Eglin Field in Florida. After the war he worked for General Motors in the photographic division retiring in 1980 after more then 37 years of service. He was involved with amateur radio being a member of the Garden City Amateur Radio Club and the Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service. He was also a member of the Sunshine Unit - Senior Citizens of Livonia Club and with his church, the Newburg United Methodist Church of Livonia. He is survived by his wife Bernice and his two children, Janet Carol Abejean and Daniel J. (Judy) Ellis. Six grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren also survive. Visitation will be held at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth on Wednesday from 2pm - 4pm and 6pm - 9pm. Visitation will continue at Newburg United Methodist Church, 36500 Ann Arbor Trail, Livonia on Thursday from 9:30am until time of Funeral Service at 10:30am with the Reverend Marsha Woolley officating. Interment will occur at Parkview Cemetery in Livonia.
