Passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, May 6, 2013 at the age of 93. Vincent was a long time resident of Westland, Michigan and a member of st. Damian's Parish. In the final years of his life, Vincent reside at All Seasons Retirement Community in Rochester Hills, Michigan and then at Lourdes Assisted Living in Waterford, Michigan. Vincent courageously served his country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He visited many exotic places such as Iceland and Greenland, and he fought in several battles in the South Pacific. He was injured during battle, only to be rescued by a Marine air transport, which crashed shortly after takeoff. Miraculously, Vincent survived the crash unscathed. Upon returning from the war, Vincent worked for the Ford Motor Company, Security Division, for over 30 years. He was proud of his service to both the Company and the Ford family. Until this day, all of Vincent's family members proudly drive Ford cars. Vincent is survived by his daughter, Carol Blaszczak; his granddaughter Michelle Blaszczak and her husband Joseph Richotte; his brothers Henry, Gene, Bob and Jerry Selasky; his sisters Peggy, Eleanor, Rose and Theresea; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Philomena ( Jovanelly ); his siblings Chester, Jessie, Leo, Joe, Florence and Agnes and his dear friend James Jovanelly. A friend to all that knew him, Vincent will be missed. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 pm until 8 pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth. A Rosary Service will be held at 7 pm. Visitation will continue on Friday from 10:30 am until the time of the funeral mass at 11 am at St. Damian Catholic Church, 30055 Joy Road, Westland. Interment will follow at Parkview Cemetery where Military Honors will be held by the United States Marine Corps.
