Valentina Lilley, age 86 of Canton, Michigan, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2019. Beloved wife of 62 years to James Lilley; loving mother of Jeffrey Lilley, Kirk Lilley, and Kristyn Lilley; proud grandmother of Racine and Linden.
Young Valentina graduated from Chadsey High School following which she was employed as secretary to the Purchasing Director for art and decor at the J. L. Hudson Company in downtown Detroit.
She marched in the Annual Hudson’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Known to all as Mickey, she was a talented homemaker. She was also skilled at sewing arts, furniture upholstery and refinishing, and patching up many-a-skinned knee. Selfless in thought and action, Mickey always put everyone before herself. And her thoughtfulness, integrity, and generosity knew no end.
The original picker, Mickey had a keen eye for art and antiques. She and Jim spent many an enjoyable day crisscrossing the United States creating their own antique adventures. And she always returned with something not only for herself, but also for others.
Never one to put her motor in idle, Mickey made the most of each day — quietly going about her business. And when her work was done — the tasks completed, the boxes checked — Mickey would end each day by saying, “Time to close-up shop”.
Our Sweet Lady Bear will be deeply missed.
Visitation for Mickey will be Thursday, October 3rd, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth.
A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at 7:00pm.
