Thomas Robert Seipke passed away peacefully Sunday, May 13, 2018 at the age of 88. Tom was born in Gladwin, Michigan to Henry and Susan (Johnson) Seipke. Tom was the beloved husband of the late Jeannine for 52 years. He is survived by his two loving children Tim (Carrie Akin) Seipke, and Lisa (Joseph) Diglio, cherished grandchildren Taylor, Zach, and Josh, and his dear sister Laura Walsh. Tom was preceded in death by both his parents, and his siblings Clifford, Leonard, Warren, Carolyn, and Clarence.
Tom was a hard working man who was raised on the family farm in Gladwin and made his living as a brick mason. He specialized in creating the most beautiful field stone fireplaces and used his creative talents in his later years making wine cork trivets, walking canes from black walnut branches and grapevine wreath trees which family and friends continue to treasure to this day.
An avid outdoorsman, Tom enjoyed tending to his garden, reaping the bounty of his raspberry patch and hunting for morel mushroom. Long hours in the woods during deer season and on the ice during the winter fishing for perch, pike or bluegill was precious time spent with his beloved wife, Jeannine, who shared the same interests. An annual highlight for the entire family was salmon fishing and smelt dipping in the many rivers of the Hiawatha Sportsman club in the U.P.
Over the years, Tom could be found playing Pinnacle with the boys at the local Eagles Club or spending a leisurely outing with his wife at the local casino. In addition to watching the Detroit Tigers, you could always find his TV tuned to a western channel where his idol’s John Wayne or Clint Eastwood would be battling the bad guys.
Tom was loved deeply and will be greatly missed by his family.
