Theresa Marie Covington of Plymouth, died December 19, 2018. She was 94 years old. Theresa was born in Bay City, Michigan to Floyd and Philomena “Minnie” McCracken. Theresa was the beloved wife of the late William Covington who died in 2006. Theresa is survived by her loving children Janet (the late Dennis) Smith, Nancy (Norm) Schreiber, William (Debra) Covington, Theresa (fiancé Albert) Covington, Barbara (Jeffrey) Ziel, Mary Covington, James (Becky) Covington, Thomas (Irene) Covington, and Beth Covington. Theresa is also survived by 15 cherished grandchildren and 11 precious great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, and her 4 siblings.
Theresa was a lifelong Catholic and a member at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church since 1956. She was active in many church and civic organizations. She often volunteered for community service and received a State of Michigan award honoring her generosity to her neighbors. Theresa will be especially remembered for her caring and concern for family and friends, her selflessness, her faith, her love for large family gatherings, and her wonderful sense of humor. Although she disliked boats, she loved the lakes of northern Michigan. Theresa’s favorite activity was watching any Detroit or Michigan college sporting event. Her Sunday night routine was saving the sports schedule from the weekly tv guide. Theresa was deeply loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be Friday, December 21, from 2-8pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main St., Plymouth, 48170 with a Rosary Service at 7pm. Her Funeral Mass will be Saturday, December 22, at 12pm at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 47650 N. Territorial Road, Plymouth, 48170. Memorial donations in Theresa’s memory may be made to Mt. St. Joseph, Our Lady of Good Counsel, and the National Ataxia Foundation. Envelopes will be provided at the Funeral Home.
