Susan Lynn Marzec passed away at home July 29, 2024. She was 70 years old.

The loving wife of Kenneth Marzec for 50 years, Susan was also the beloved mother of Kenneth (Nicole McDonald), Jason (Katie Zalenski), and Gregory (Marie Brosnan), and proud Busia of her four grandchildren: Micah, Jonah, Lucah, and Sophia. She is survived by her siblings Donald Charuba (Jane), John Charuba (Lynn), Walter Charuba (Marci), Judy Walling (Lisa), Justine Watkins (Edward), and MaryAnn Zylla (Alan).

Brothers and sisters-in-law include Mary Ann Maciejewki, Bonnie Bettley, John Marzec (Rita), Francis Marzec (Marina). She was the proud and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. 

Born on May 25th,1954 in Detroit, Michigan, Susan was the daughter of the late Walter (Polish immigrant) and Anna Charuba. She grew up in Detroit and graduated from Saint Stephen Grade School and Saint Hedwig High School, where she met her husband Kenneth. She graduated from Maria Curie-Skłodowska University with a degree in Polish Artistic Ensambles in Lublin, Poland in 1992. 

Susan was known for embracing her Polish Heritage through dance, cooking, traveling to Poland, and spending quality time with her family. She used her passion to teach Polish dance to the Centennial Dancers and Radomianie for 50 years. In 1998, she was honored to choreograph the Polish dancing scenes for the movie, Polish Wedding, filmed in Detroit. 

She was a proud, small business owner of Simply Polish for over 18 years and was gratified to share her passion for her Polish heritage with countless supporters and customers. 

She was a larger than life presence and brought her positive energy to every community she joined, including the Livonia YMCA, Hamburg Fitness, PNA, St. Michael’s Catholic School and Parish (Livonia), Catholic Central High School, Brother Rice High School, Sweetest Heart of Mary Church, St. Kenneth and multiple other Catholic communities. 

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.

To celebrate a life well-lived, the family will host the following:

Friends may visit at Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main Street, Plymouth, Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 3:00pm until 8pm.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Kenneth Catholic Church, 14951 North Haggerty Road, Plymouth, Friday, August 2, 2024, at 11am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 10:30am.
