Steve was born on February 12, 1966 in Southfield the son of William and Nancy ( Hoffman ) Blackwell. Steve was a landscape designer for more then 25 years having an in-depth knowledge of horticulture, landscape architecture, stone block, brick pavers and computer died design. His interests were vast including hunting, fishing, guitar playing, collecting sports cards and comic books. Steve also dabbled in water color painting, electronics, and chemistry and was extremely well read. Steve was an animal lover with many tropical fish, an iguana and his dog Stitch. He also loved living in his cabin on Cass Lake in Waterford with beautiful views of the lake and wildlife right off his back deck. As an infant and young child Steve attended Covenant Community Church and was at the head of his Sunday School Class when it came to memorizing Bible verses. He also loved vacationing with his family in northern Michigan at Paradise Lake, fishing and going to Mackinaw Island. In later years he played school football for the Southfield Jay Hawks. During his teen years and into his twenties Steve was a lead quitarist in a rock and roll band that played at local venues, high school and college parties. Steve's professional career began in the field as a landscape laborer. He then owned and operated a brick paver division of Artistic Outdoor Services. He later became the company's landscape designer, sales executive and supervisor. Steve was an award wining landscaped designer with the Michigan Green Industry Association. He also served as a judge for the association's Annual Design Awards Program. Steve is survived by his paretnts, his brothers Scott and his wife Lisa, Christopher and his wife Kerri and his nieces and nephews, Nickolas, Jordan, Josef, Brianna, Clayton, Chase, Caleb and Caedan. Steve was loved by his family, friends and coworkers. He will be missed but never forgotten. A Memorial Service will be held in Stephen's honor on March 1, 2013 at 1 pm at Covenant Community Church, 25800 Student Street, Redford, MI 48239.
