Stanley Majka

Stanley Majka passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at the age of 96. Stanley was born in Detroit on May 21, 1916 the son of John and Hedwig ( Sas ) Majka. During World War II he served with the United States Army during the Phillippine Islands campaign. On October 23, 1948 he married Mary A. Lesniak and together they shared a marriage of 64 years residing both in Detroit and later in Canton. Stanley worked for General Motors in the Chevrolet division at the bumper and spring plant in Livonia retiring in the early 1980's. He was an avid fan of all Detroit's sports teams and he was a great " handy man " Stanley also enjoyed to fish, play cards and go to the casinos. He is survived by his wife Mary and children Ronald and Lorraine. Also surviving are his brother and sister- in - laws, June Majka, Rose Woch and Stanley and Dorothy Lesniak. He was preceded in death by Mary and Walter Wrobel, Joseph Woch, Irene and Frank Tarczynski. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1pm until 9pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 10am until time of Funeral Mass at 10:30am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 44800 Warren Road, Canton. Entombment will follow later at St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn Heights.
