Ruth V. Porter, age 92 passed away peacefully at her residence in Northville on October 12, 2014. She was born in Fall River, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Harry and Alma Ellis. Ruth was very accomplished in her work with Needle Arts and basket weaving. She was a very active member of the congregation at her church, the First Presbyterian Church in Plymouth as well as the Karmanos Cancer Group. Ruth was a proud veteran. During her military career, she served in the United States Navy, as Yeoman Third Class and honorably discharged in 1945. She was the cherished wife of her deceased husband, Dr. Gene Porter and devoted mother to her children Bruce (Sandra) Porter and, Christopher (Lucinda) Porter. Dearest grandmother of Benjamin (Nicki) Porter, Bryan Porter and, Corey Porter; great-grandmother of Dylan, Ella Grace, Cian and, Benjamin Porter, Jr. She will be sadly missed by many loving nieces, nephews and longtime friends, including the Pew Pals at First Presbyterian Church, The Lunch Bunch and the Basket Cases. Funeral service Wednesday, 11:00am at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth. Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 3:00pm-9:00pm.
