Ruth Irene Blinke

Ruth Irene Blinke away at Mary Wood Nursing Home on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at the age of 92. Ruth was born in Detroit, the daughter of Rudolph and Clarice ( Bondy ) Millen on February 26, 1921. She graduated from St. Benedick's High School in Highland Park and also attended beauty school. For over thirty years she worked with her aunt in their store, Van's Beauty and Barber Shop in the northwest section of Detroit. Later she went to work at the Rehibilitation Institute of the Detroit Medical Center as a secretary retiring in 1986. Ruth continued doing hair in her home for family and friends. Other interests in her life was her love of sewing and kniting. Her husband Albert preceded her in death. She is survived by her children Catherine ( Thomas ) Olender and Albert ( Theresa ) Blinke. She leaves her grandchildren Barbara ( Bruce ) Galonsky, Andrew and David Olender, Douglas ( Laura ) Olender, Sarah Olender, Katherine and Zachary Blinke and her great grandchildren, Patrick, Emily and Cassandre. Also surviving are her siblings Helen Millen, Rudolph ( Belle ) Millen, Thomas Millen, Clarice Kovala, Gerald ( Sandy ) MIllen and Lawrence ( Edie ) Millen. Visitation will be held at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home on Wednesday from 1 pm until 9 pm. A Scripture Service is planned for 7 pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 10 am until time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 47650 North Territorial Road at Beck, Plymouth. Contributions are suggested to Angela Hospice or to the Capuchins.
