Russell C. Merritt

Russell C. Merritt, of Plymouth, passed away April 3, 2016, at the age of 84. He was born in Salem, Michigan on November 4, 1931, to Russell and Edith Merritt. Russell is survived by his loving wife Carol, of 62 years. He is also survived by his 3 beloved children: Rene (Thomas) Stevenson, of Maryland, Russell Merritt, of Texas, and Randall Merritt, of Redford, Michigan. Russell was preceded in death by both of his parents, Russell and Edith Merritt, and both of his siblings, Wanda Braciszewski and Rodger Merritt.
Russell "RC" loved to laugh and tease, and always went out of his way to brighten the day of complete strangers with funny comments. He had the biggest heart ever, loving people, buffets and the simple pleasures of feeding his menagerie of backyard animals, to the point of snowblowing paths and a landing strip for them after snowstorms. RC was blessed with many lifelong friendships, which he valued above all else.
Visitation for Russell will be Wednesday, April 6, from 5-8pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main Street, Plymouth, 48170. His Funeral Service will be Thursday, April 7, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Family and friends may begin visiting at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Plymouth Community Council on Aging, 9955 North Haggerty Road, Plymouth, Michigan 48170.
