Ronald A. Edwards, age 66 of Plymouth passed away on February 2, 2022. Ron was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 24, 1955 to his parents, the late Mollye (née Bokolor) and Roland Edwards.
He is the beloved and devoted husband of 42 years to Mary Pat (née Mikkelsen); loving father of four children – Thomas (Melissa) Edwards, Theresa Edwards, Mark (Sara) Edwards and Matthew (Michelle) Edwards; proud grandfather of Preston, Nora, Theo and Emma. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his sisters, Marilyn Edwards and Deborah (Raul) Onoro.
Ron was gregarious, awkward, chronically late, and a deal seeking shopaholic (does anyone need a spare crock pot?). But Ron was also extremely generous, especially if you needed to eat (and even if you didn’t), quick to slip his kids and staff alike crisp $20 bills, or pay for everyone’s meal or round of beer. Ron was ready to come over if you even mentioned that you had a problem, whether you lived four minutes, or four hours away. He ensured that his family and those around him never wanted for anything. Ron was prone to long drives in search of locally owned hardware stores, and pointing out the location of every wastewater treatment plant in existence. Ron often spent his vacations in Hawaii and those that were with him were required to join him on the beach at 6:15 PM every evening to watch the sunset. Ron served the Township of Plymouth for 20 years as treasurer and during that time he was the king of Fourth of July founding and running both the “Good Old Fashioned Fourth of July Family Picnic” and the fireworks show. Ron will be sorely missed by the community, friends, and family that cared for him.
Private services for the family will be held. A public memorial gathering and celebration of Ron’s life will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2022 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Plymouth Township Park, Pavilion 1, 46640 West Ann Arbor Trail, Plymouth, Michigan 48170.
