Robert J. Weigand

Robert Jon Weigand, age 70 of Westland passed away on May 14, 2024 with his loved ones by his side.

 Robert was born in Detroit on July 27, 1953 to his parents, the late Leonore Harriet (née Boboltz) and Harvey Joseph Weigand.  He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by Sherry Rayburn - his beloved and devoted life partner of over 40 years; his brother and sister Donald (Carol) Weigand and Laureen (Joseph) Grosse as well as his nieces and great-nieces and nephews.

Rob had a successful career as a Precision Machinist for many years.  He also enjoyed building computers.  He had a kind nature and a great sense of humor.   His laugh was infectious and it wasn’t long before everyone in the room was laughing with him.

Rob loved nature and being outdoors.  Spending the day on his boat fishing was always a good day.  He loved animals and was like a magnet to any dog he met along the way.  He also enjoyed music, sports and watching old westerns.

The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Angela Hospice.  Their knowledgeable, compassionate and supportive care made such a difference at such a difficult time.  Words cannot convey how much we appreciate the loving care you provided for Rob and our family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Robert Jon Weigand to Angela Hospice, 14100 Newburgh Road, Livonia, Michigan 48154.  Contribution envelopes will be available at Schrader-Howell.   

Friends may gather on Sunday, June 2, 2024 from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the Memorial Service at 3:00 P.M. that will be officiated by our longtime friend of our family, Revered Drex Morton.
