Robert W. Dilworth Jr. passed away peacefully at his home with his beloved family beside him on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the age of 78. Bob was born in Detroit, the son of Robert W. and Ethel F. ( nee Hinnegan ) Dilworth Sr. on March 20, 1936. He attended Salesian High school and graduated from Cooley High School. After graduation Robert enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1954 and served his country. While stationed in Guam in the Pacific he was involved in training military police dogs, his dog was named " Hermo". After his term of service was completed he returned to Michigan and went to work as a food and beverage salesman. During his working years he was employed with various food and beverage brokerage firms including United Brokerage, 7-Up, Coca Cola and ended his career with Wiltsis Food Brokerage retiring in 2000. As a salesman he received many rewards and special trips for his sales ability. In 1960 he married Janet V. Winnie and together they have shared 53 years of life together. Bob had many interests and hobbies. He loved NASCAR racing and was a true fan to the University of Michigan football team, tailgating and attending the games for years. " Go Blue ! " Bob devoted time and energy to his backyard and pool which was an oasis of beauty. He enjoyed watching the birds that visited his yard and traveling up to Houghton Lake where relaxing on his pontoon boat enjoying a " Bud " was the greatest thing ever. Bob is survived by his wife Janet and their four daughters, Kathy ( Roger ) Schaar, Karen Dilworth, Diane Rech and Darlene ( Rick ) Robitaille. He is also survived by his grandchildren Tara ( Brent Leimbach ), Robby, Paige, Kristyn, Kristi, Julia, Delaney, Karlee and Emma. Two great grandchildren Ava and Alexa also survive. Robert was blessed with having a great sister Ann ( Michael ) McKernan and their three sons Timothy, Matthew and Daniel. Visitation Tuesday, March 25, 2014, from 2 pm until 9 pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth. A Rosary will be held at 7 pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 9:30 am until time of the Funeral Mass at 10 am at Divine Savior Catholic Church, 39375 Joy Road, Westland. Contributions are suggested to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
