Robert Petersen of Plymouth, Michigan, passed away on May 30, 2024 in Livonia, Michigan, at the age of 94. He was born on April 28,1930, in Detroit, Michigan to his late parents, George and Clara Petersen.
Bob led a distinguished career as an orthodontist in Plymouth, Michigan. He graduated from Grosse Pointe High School and furthered his education at the esteemed University of Michigan in both the Dental School and Orthodontics schools. Additionally, Robert served his country with honor as a Captain in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Bob found joy and relaxation in various hobbies and interests. He had a passion for travel and cherished moments spent boating, fishing, and unwinding at the family cabin near Traverse City. Above all else, Bob treasured time spent with his family. He was deeply involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren, taking great pride in their activities and adventures. Family was paramount to Bob - it was at the core of his being.
Among his proudest accomplishments were serving as the former President of the Plymouth Rotary Club and the former President of the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce.
Bob is survived by his three loving children: Glenn (Sandy) Petersen, Paul (Dina) Petersen, Karen Petersen (Rich Weiland), as well as his six wonderful grandchildren: Jim (Amber) Petersen, Lindsey Petersen (fiancé Joey Bartlett), Tom Bartnicki (Ellie Doman), Kristen Bartnicki (Aaron Fadden), Cody Petersen, and Robert Petersen.
In 2014, Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sally. His memory will also be cherished by his dear friend Barbara Ross.
Robert Petersen will be fondly remembered for his dedication to family, service to community organizations, and warm presence among all who knew him. His legacy lives on through the love he shared with those closest to him.
A private family committal service for Bob will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Plymouth.
