A native of Detroit, Bob was born on the West Side, graduated from St. Andrews High School and earned a B.S. from Lawrence Institute of Technology. After serving his country as a medic in the US Air Force he became a servant to the city he loved, first as a policeman and then as a fireman, serving for over 37 years and retiring as the Fire Marshal. Affectionately known as the "Chief" he became an institution as one of the longest serving Fire Marshals of Detroit. In that role, he led the department to make it more results oriented, with a customer first culture. His passion for his city was only eclipsed by his love for his family. The oldest son of John and Chesterella, he is survived by his wife of over 45 years, Cecilia, identical twin sons, Christian ( Kimberly ) and Robert ( Angela ) and six beloved grandchildren; Henry, John, Claire, Peter, Luke and Matthew. He also leaves behind 3 loving sisters; Loretta(Edward) Gasiorek, Barbara Rudoni and Alice (Floyd) Underwood, one brother, Thomas (Virginia) , sister-in-law Mary Ann(Fred)Osterbeck and brother-in-law Paul(Rose)Wagner and many wonderful nieces and nephews. The viewing will be at Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main St., Plymouth this Thursday (November 29, 2012) from 4pm to 8pm and Friday from 2pm to 8pm. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday morning at 11am at Detroit Catholic Central High School, 27225 Wixom Rd, Novi, visitation will begin at 10:30am until time of mass. A rosary service will be held on Friday at 7pm.
