Robert G. Strang, age 92 of Canton, passed away on October 2, 2020. Born July 19, 1928 in Lynch, Kentucky to parents Lloyd & Pearl Strang. On December 26, 1951 in Ypsilanti, MI Robert married his beloved Alva and on February 15, 2018 he would give her back to the Lord. Together they were blessed with two loving children Robert William Strang and Karen Lynn (Tim Gorecki) Hawkins. Grandchildren; Bradley Nash, Teresa (Justin Chandonnet) Strang, Alan Strang and Amy (Mike Longsdorf) Espinoza. Great grandchildren; Donovan Espinoza, Damon Espinoza, Joslyn Longsdorf and Easton Longsdorf. Also survived by his brother Homer (Oma) Turner.
Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Soon after his leave from the Army Robert became a Barber and opened University Barber Shop in Ypsilanti. Robert enjoyed serving the Ypsilanti Community both with his Barber Shop of 30 years and his Baskin Robins Store for which he owned for 10 years. Roberts greatest joy in life was being a family man and especially being a grandfather.
Visitation will be held at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home 280 South Main St, Plymouth on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 from 5:00pm until time of the funeral service at 7:00pm to be officiated by The Reverend Randy Turner. Interment Highland Cemetery, Ypsilanti.
For those who cannot attend and wish to view the Funeral Service in a safe environment, the funeral will be live streamed.
Please be advised that in observance of the Governmental Order from the State of Michigan and the current COVID-19 situation, when in attendance at the visitation and funeral service, we kindly ask for the safety and well-being of the families we serve and for your health, that everyone practice social distancing and consideration for other guests in attendance. Please refrain from handshaking and embracing family members and one another.
As of October 6, 2020, we are permitted to increase the amount of people allowed for visitations and funerals. We still ask that visitors use social distance guidelines and please wear a face mask.
All those who attend the visitation or funeral service are also required by order of the Governor of Michigan to wear a face mask.
