Robert F. Thomas, age 85 of Plymouth, passed away on May 21, 2021.
Robert was born in Detroit, Michigan to his parents, Willard and Ruby Thomas on June 16, 1935.
In 1953, Robert graduated from Western High School. After high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps where he studied electronics. After his honorable service, he continued his education in electronics by attending the Electronics Institute, RETS Electronic School, Lawrence Institute of Technology (now Lawrence Technological University) and Schoolcraft College. He was employed by Burroughs (now Unisys) from 1959 to 1999 as an Electronics Technician.
In 1959, Robert also married the love of his life, Mary and together they shared 43 years of marriage and built a loving family until her passing in 2002.
Robert's passion for electronics did not stop at his work. In his free time, he enjoyed working with electronics and computers. He also enjoyed reading and maintaining his knowledge of the field he loved.
Robert is survived by his children - Linda (Dale) Morris, Michael Thomas and Charlotte Burke; grandchildren - Ryan, Lindsey, Autumn, Michelle and Ricky; great-grandchildren - Jaxon, Angie, Griffin, Rylan, Ciera, Wynter and Kobra.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Thomas, his sister Gwen and, his brother, Willard.
Friends may visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and Wednesday May 26, 2021 from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M.
A funeral service will also be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at beginning at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Wayne Parker of Merriman Baptist Church officiating.
Following the funeral service, Robert will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Mary at Grand Lawn Cemetery in Detroit, Michigan.
As of November 18, 2020, we are permitted to have no more than 25 people in attendance for visitations and funerals. Please be advised that in observance of the Governmental Order from the State of Michigan effective May 15, 2021 at 9:00 A.M., if you are fully vaccinated, face masks are no longer required indoors. Fully vaccinated means more than 14 days past the second dose of the two-dose vaccine or 14 days past the single dose vaccine. If you are not fully vaccinated during the current COVID-19 situation, when in attendance at the visitation and funeral service, we kindly ask for the safety and well-being of the families we serve, and for your health, that you practice social distancing and consideration for other guests in attendance. Masks are mandatory for those who are not fully vaccinated and we request you to please refrain from handshaking and embracing family members and one another.
