Robert E. Stork passed away at Providence Park Hospital in Novi on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at the age of 88. Robert was born in Detroit, the son of Joseph and Elsie Stork. Robert graduated from St. Mary's of Redford High School and after graduation in 1945 he enlisted in the United States Navy and served proudly until his discharge. After serving his country he enrolled at the University of Detroit graduating in 1952 with a B.S. in electrical engineering. From 1952 until his retirement in 1988 he worked for Detroit Edison as an Electrical Engineer in the Relay Division on Warren Avenue in Detroit. In 1959 he married Jean M. Longe, whom he had met at a bowling league event, and together they have shared a marriage lasting 56 years. Robert was an avid Detroit Tiger's and Lion's fan supporting them in the good years as well as the bad. In his spare time Robert enjoyed working in the yard and gardening and reading, especially in the area of Civil War history but above all, Robert was a family man. He followed his children's sporting events and development with keen interest, always being there to rout them on. Robert is survived by his wife Jean and children Timothy, Donald and Elizabeth. He is also survived by his siblings Donald Stork and Marjorie ( Mitzi ) Hanlon. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday from 5 pm until 9 pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth. A Memorial Mass will be conducted on Saturday at 10:30 am at St. Kenneth Catholic Church, 14951 Haggerty Road ( south of Five Mile ) Plymouth. Family will receive friends from 10 am until the time of the mass.
