Robert J. Dunn, age 74 of Northville, passed away on January 28, 2025.
Bob was born on February 20, 1950 in Brooklyn, New York the son of Robert and Margaret (née Campion)Dunn. Bob is the beloved husband of the late Eileen O’Connor Dunn, loving and devoted father of Megan (Chris) Crespi and Erin (Jeff) Falcon and proud Poppy to Gabriella, Connor and Ava. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his siblings, Michael (Carole) Dunn, Peggy (Marty) Pollack and Laura Petti, as well as, more than 30 nieces and nephews.
Bob was raised in Queens, NY, coming to Michigan to attend Western Michigan University where he met his future wife of 45 years, Eileen. His career as an engineer and executive in the steel construction industry was his passion and life’s work and he counts many of his colleagues as among his closest friends. While work was his calling and lifelong dedication, his purpose was renewed when his grandchildren were born. His free time was filled with soccer games, dance competitions, lacrosse games and the celebrations andevents of his three mouseketeers. Bob and Eileen built traditions for their grandkids like the annual Elf giftson Christmas morning, surprise Halloween costumes, and family vacations from NYC to Disney World, from Paris to Prague. He didn’t let a day go by withoutchecking in via phone call or text to his daughters or the grandkid’s group chat, making jokes and reminding them how proud he felt and how deeply loved “to infinity” they were. These memories will be forever treasured by his family. In recent years, Bob grew deeply in faith and loved starting each day watching 7am mass at St Patrick’s Cathedral in NY and participated in a daily Divine Mercy Chaplet prayer group led by Deacon Regis Buckley. As he was a big supporter of Catholic education, with his grandchildren attending OLGC parish school, his daughters and granddaughters attending Mercy High School and grandson graduating from Catholic Central, donations can be made in his memory to the Molly Joyce MacLean Foundation; assisting in providing access to Catholic education (mjmfoundation.org) or to the Mercy High School Annual Fund (mhsmi.org/donate).
