Richard M Szary

Richard M. Szary passed away on March 23, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on May 15, 1939, he lived a life marked by dedication, excellence, and integrity in both his professional and personal endeavors.

Richard earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and a Master’s in Business Administration, laying the foundation for a successful career in automotive manufacturing. He began his journey with Federal-Mogul as a co-op student in 1962. Over the course of his distinguished career, he held various engineering, sales, and operational leadership roles, ultimately serving as President of Powertrain Operations globally before his retirement. His professional achievements reflected his unwavering commitment to hard work, leadership, and excellence.

Beyond his career, Richard cherished traveling the world with his beloved wife, Christine, and enjoyed playing golf at Meadowbrook Country Club in Northville, MI, and Kensington Golf & Country Club in Naples, FL. One of his proudest golfing memories was when both he and Christine achieved a hole-in-one.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Christine, and their three children: Paul, David (Kathryn), and Jennifer. He was also a proud grandfather to Kevin, Jake, Tim (Lis), and Joey. His greatest joy in life was found in his roles as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Anna Marie (Matt), and grandson, Colin, who remain forever in the hearts of those who loved them.

A memorial service will be held at Schrader-Howell Funeral Home on April 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Following the service, a luncheon will be held at The Ledger.
