Richard “Dick” Glaspie, age 90 and longtime resident of Livonia passed away on Monday, October 9, 2017.
Dick was born on July 13, 1927 in Ferndale, Michigan to his parents, Merritt J. and Alice (nee McKenzie) Glaspie. He is the beloved husband of the late Joan (nee Westlake) Glaspie who passed away in 2005. They were married for 54 years. Dick is the loving and devoted father of their two children, Richard (Sharon) Glaspie and Terri (Gordon) Micallef; proud grandfather of six grand-children and two step-grandchildren, Jeff (Sally) Glaspie, Megan (Todd) Harry, Bryan (Amy) Zochowski, Kyle Zochowski, Kelley Sonnenberg, Caitlin Micallef, Lauren Micallef and Anthony Micallef and four great-grandchildren, Simone, Julian, Lincoln and Penney.
Dick was loved and respected by all who knew him or interacted with him. Whether it was a family member, friend, co-worker or stranger, he would never hesitate to offer assistance or a helping hand. Dick also proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Navy. He will be greatly missed by all whose life was touched by him.
Friends may visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home on Thursday, October 12th from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home immediately following visitation at 6:00 pm.
Dick’s cremated remains will be laid to rest next to his wife, Joan at Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park, Livonia.
