Richard Joseph Rymas

Passed away at his home with his family beside him on Tuesday, January 26, 2011 at the age of 73. Richard was born in Detroit on April 8, 1937 the son of Joseph and Anna (Zogas) Rymas. He had worked as an engineer with the Ford Motor Company in Dearborn for 40 years retiring in the late 1990's. He married his wife of 52 years, Joan, in 1958 and together they shared the joy of two children and now three grandchildren. Richard had many interests and hobbies including boating, waterskiing, golf and working with wood. Together, the family, enjoyed Michigan's beautiful north country from their condo in Traverse City. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Father O'Kelly Chapter, Dearborn, and was a genuine " Good Will Ambassador ". Richard was an avid Michigan State fan and had served in the Army Reserves.

Richard is survived by his wife Joan, his children Carol (Kevin) Wurm and David (Amy) Rymas and his grandchildren David, Joseph and Megan. Visitation will be held at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home on Friday, january 28, 2011, from 1pm until 9pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 10am until time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30am at Our Lady Of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 47650 North Territorial Road, Plymouth. Contributions are suggested to the church or the American Cancer Society.
