Richard J. Couturier passed away July 5, 2013 at the age of 80. He was born October 14, 1932 in Lake Leelanau, Michigan to Roy and Mazil(McNeely)Couturier. Dick was deeply loved and will be missed by his beloved wife Jean. He is the dear father of Karen M. Couturier, Kathleen A. Couturier Zarafonitis and Richard James(Marcy)Couturier and dear grandfather of Ashley Arthur, John and Jennifer Zarafonitis, Cory, Michael and Kiel Couturier. He is the dear brother of Helen(Harold)O'Brien, Betty(Ed)Mucha and Fred(Lucy)Couturier. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceeded in death by his parents, his sister Rosalind O'Brien and his brother Leroy Couturier. Dick was an excellent Funeral Director. He worked in a couple of funeral homes prior to working at the Schrader Funeral Home in Plymouth, where he worked serving the needs of families for 26 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church and loved singing in the choir. Dick and Jean traveled to many countries singing with the choir. Dick enjoyed traveling and gardening. He was a graduate of Wayne State Mortuary Science School. He was a member of Plymouth Kiwanis, American Legion Post #112, Michigan Funeral Directors Association and National Funeral Directors Association. Dick proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Funeral Services will take place Tuesday, July 9, 2013, 10:30am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 47650 N. Territorial Rd., Plymouth. Friends may visit at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main St., Plymouth, Monday from 2pm until 8pm and Tuesday at church beginning at 10am.
