Richard G. Filban, age 85 of Livonia passed away on March 10, 2025. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 16, 1939 to his parents, the late Richard and Bernice (née Richards) Filban.
He is the beloved and devoted husband of Barbara (née Varilone) Filban; loving father of two children – Karan (Rick) Terberg and Michael (Terri) Filban; proud grandfather of Ryan Terberg, Brad (Jessie) Terberg, Haley Filban, Jake Filban, Josh Filban and great-grandfather of Aiden, Austin, Zach, Lincoln, Tessa and Brayden.
He was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers, Lions, Pistons, and Red Wings. In his retirement years he and Barbara loved to travel and experience new places and see new things. Like all who love to travel, Richard and Barbara were always ready for a new travel experience and enjoyed the planning and anticipation of their next trip together.
Richard proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery with Military Honors on Monday, March 17, 2025 at 11:00 A.M.
Friends may visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth on Saturday, March 15, 2025 from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the Funeral Service beginning at 11:30 A.M.
Those who wish to honor the memory of Richard G. Filban are invited to consider a contribution to Alzheimer’s Association or Angela Hospice.
Contribution envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
