Richard Arthur Dillon, age 72 of Plymouth passed away on October 27, 2024. Richard was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 19, 1952 to his parents, the late Norma (née Greve) and John Dillon.
He is the beloved and devoted husband of Mary (née Dunlevy) Dillon; loving father of two children – Emily (Jason) Wierszewski and Laura Hoff; proud grandfather of four grandchildren – Desmond Wierszewski, Ella Hoff, Teagan Hoff and Riley Wierszewski. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his siblings Joann (Bob) Hendershot, John (Susan) Dillon, Donna McLean, and Jeff (Sela) Dillon, as well as his many nieces and nephews.
Rick was known for his ability to fix just about anything. In his free time, he could be found working outside in one of his many flower beds, building Barbie houses for his daughters, and working on home improvement projects. He had an amazing work ethic and loved helping people, working for over 30 years as a service manager at Fox Hills Chrysler Jeep in Plymouth.
Rick’s sense of humor was unmatched. He was famous for dad jokes and making everyone laugh and was a fan of slapstick humor, practical jokes, and the Three Stooges. You could recognize his boisterous laugh from rooms away. He loved Christmas so much that every year his decorations put Clark Griswold’s house in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation to shame. Rick enjoyed collecting Santa figurines and Coca-Cola memorabilia and never let his trusty mug of Diet Coke leave his side.
More than anything, Rick loved his family. He met his wife and soulmate Mary at 19, and they were married for 51 years. He cherished making memories with his daughters and all of his grandchildren. He loved animals, especially dogs. He was preceded in death by his beloved pups Lady, Gabby, and Tootsie, and is survived by his fur baby Penny.
