Richard Gordon Blackwell passed away September 12, 2022 at the age of 87. He was born April 26, 1935 in Royal Oak, Michigan to Ellard G. and Edith M. (Pike) Blackwell. Richard was preceded in death by his beloved Nancy after 58 years of marriage. He is loved and will be dearly missed by his daughter Christine (Robert) Cwynar, his grandchildren Melody Norman and Matthew (Christina) Cwynar and his great grandchildren Tucker and Ellie. Richard was also preceded in death by his parents and his son, William.
Richard was retired from General Motors after 32 years of service. He worked at G.M.A.D. in Willow Run and also at Fisher Body for a time. Richard graduated from Plymouth High School in 1954. He loved Willie Nelson songs, especially "Angel Flying too Close to the Ground". Richard's entire basement was taken up by his extensive "O" scale train layout and his model car and tractor collection. He was a wonderful Dad and Granddad! Not surprisingly he was known to his grandchildren as "Papa choo choo".
