Rebecca H. McKelvey, age 68 of New Hudson passed away August 21st.
Rebecca was born on March 8, 1950 in Detroit to her parents, Melbourne and Gloria (Friday) Hynes.
She is the beloved wife of the late Ralph “Butch” McKelvey; devoted mother of two children, Michael (fiancée Sarah Shaver) McKelvey and Matthew (Diana) McKelvey; dearest sister to Melbourne (Sue) Hynes, Susie (James) Hamilton, Carol (Rich) Organek and Mary Cryderman; proud grandmother of Emma and Olivia.
Rebecca was the Administrative Assistant at St. Anastasia Roman Catholic Church in Troy for over 25 years. She acted as a liaison between the pastor, members of the church and the public. In addition, she happily helped other staff members and coordinated projects with church volunteers. She had the ability to handle complaints and problems with tact, patience and diplomacy.
She loved being a mom – especially a “hockey mom”. That means scrubbing uniforms over and over again, traveling to chilly ice arenas near and far, and cheering every awesome play in the game.
