Pietro "Pete" Mucci

Pietro “Pete” Mucci, age 91 of Plymouth, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 10, 2017.

Pete was born in Montelongo, Italy on November 6, 1925 to his parents, Antonio and Carmella (nee Basile) Mucci. In 1947, Pete and his mother moved to the United States. Nine years later, in 1956, his mother wished to return to Montelongo. Upon his return to Italy, Pete met and fell in love with his future wife, Margherita DeMarco. On August 27, 1956, Pete and Margherita were married in Montelongo, Italy. In March 1957, Pete and Margherita would travel across the ocean from Italy to start a new life in Michigan.

In 1958, Pete would continue the American dream and start his business known today as “Pete’s Shoe Repair” located in downtown Plymouth. Throughout his forty plus years of business, Pete had made many friends and established numerous relationships. In 1995, Pete sold the business and, still today, Pete’s Shoe Repair remains a well-known business in downtown Plymouth.

Those left to cherish his memory include, his beloved and devoted wife, Margherita of 60 years; his three loving children, Anthony (Patricia) Mucci, Vincenzo (Amy) Mucci and Francesco (Jennifer Price) Mucci and, his precious granddaughters, Gabriella Mucci and Julia Mucci.

Friends may visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth on Friday, January 13th from 5pm to 9pm. A rosary will be said at 8:30pm.

Visitation will continue on Saturday, January 14th where Pete will lie in state at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 47650 North Territorial Road, Plymouth from 10am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30am.

Pete will be entombed at Riverside Cemetery in Plymouth.
