Philip Terry VonGerichten of Plymouth, died suddenly July 30, 2018 at the age of 54. He was born in Detroit on December 2, 1963 to Marvin and Eda (nee Williams) VonGerichten. Philip was the beloved husband of Marilyn (nee Ayers) VonGerichten for 29 years. Philip is also survived by his two loving sons Matthew and Andy VonGerichten, his devoted parents Marvin and Eda, his three cherished brothers Jack (Pati) VonGerichten, Kevin (Monica) VonGerichten, and Gary (Cindy) VonGerichten, his dear “Mother” -in-law Kathy Ayers, and many precious nieces and nephews.
Philip was an avid hunter and camper. He loved to be outdoors and he and Marilyn traveled all over the country on camping trips. Philip also enjoyed golfing, grilling, and fixing things with his tools. He was an active member in the UAW Post 182 in Livonia. Philip was very well liked by his friends at the Livonia Transmission Plant, and by anyone who knew him. He could talk to anyone and Marilyn often mentioned that he knew everyone. More than anything, Philip loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, son and brother.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 2, from 2-8pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main St., Plymouth, 48170. His Funeral Service will be Friday, at 10am at the Funeral Home. Family and friends may begin visiting at 9am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Michigan Humane Society.
