Penelope "Penny" Wright-Steele

Penny Wright-Steele, age 81 of Plymouth passed away on March 23, 2022. She was born on September 8, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan to her parents, the late Wanda (née Hasse) and Wence Pell.

She is the beloved and devoted wife of 31 years to the late Ralph C. Steele who just passed away on March 5, 2022. Penny is the loving mother of Ken (Sandra) Wright and Tim Wright; step-mother of Phil (Donni) Steele, Rachel Steele and Cheryl Simmons; proud grandmother of five and many great-grandchildren. Penny is survived by her brother David (Vivian) Pell and his son Eric Pell and by Roger L. Wright, to whom she was married 25 years.

Penny graduated with a Bachelor of Science at University of Michigan, with a teaching certificate in math and Spanish. She was active in local government, including Plymouth's downtown development, and global environmental issues. She grew a professional career in technical writing and marketing. She was a devoted member of Our Lady of Good Counsel church, organizing their annual Advent Tea event and was a founding member of Helping Hands Ministry. Penny and Ralph enjoyed hunting, fishing and exploring the world while traveling together. She was happiest and filled with joy whenever she spent time with family, neighbors and friends. She loved and supported everyone she encountered.

Friends may visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth on Sunday, April 3, 2022 4:00 P.M. until the 6:00 PM Rosary Service.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 4, 2022 beginning at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 47650 North Territorial Road, Plymouth.


Penny will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, Ralph at Riverside Cemetery in Plymouth.
