Norman passed away on February 1, 2011 after a long battle with emphysema at his home in Flat Rock, North Carolina. He was born in Detroit on May 1, 1929 the son of John and Katherine(Kubinski) Korpus. Norm graduated from Cass Tech High school and then served with the United States Army in Korea and then with the Air Forces Reserves upon returning home. He earned a degree in Civil Engineering from Wayne State University in 1954. Always proud of his career as a professional engineer, he maintained his license until his death. During his career he worked for the City of Detroit Water Board, several contractors, the Johns Manville Corporation and finally fulfilled a life-long dream of starting his own company, SBG Construction, where he served as President until his retirement. He married Marie Grubbs in 1956 and together they had a happy and loving marriage of 39 years raising three children. Marie passed away in 1996. Norm enjoyed a second love and marriage with Marcel Lee Bull that brought him great happiness in his final years. Norman is survived by his wife Marcel, children Pam (Bob) Krinock of Houston, Texas, Richard Korpus of Annapolis, Maryland and Steven (Lisa) Korpus of Canton. Also surving are his grandchildren Sarah (Aaron) Homer, John Krinock, Steven, Kristiina and Cody Korpus and great granddaughter Kate Homer. His siblings, Johnny Korpus of Canton, Isabel Cox of Romeo and Raymond Korpus of Imlay City also survive. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 11, 2011 from 10am until time of the Memorial Service at 11am at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth. A private family burial will occur at Glen Eden Cemetery later. Norm's family is grateful to the many caring individuals at Four Seasons Hospice who helped us to honor his wishes at life's end.
