Nancy Josephine Blackwell

Passed away at her home with her family beside her on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the age of 78. Nancy was born in Royal Oak on March 30, 1935 the daughter of Harry W. and Vera ( nee Hunter ) Hirzel. At the age of 5 the family moved to Plymouth and she has resided in Plymouth since then. She was a graduate of the class of 1954 of Plymouth High School and it was there where she met her husband to be, Richard G. Blackwell. They married in 1955. Before she married and for a while afterwards she worked at Ford Motor in the main offices in Dearborn. She also worked for her brother, Tom Hirzel in his insurance office. But it was her devotion to her family that was her guiding light throughout her life. She is survived by her husband Richard and daughter Christine ( Robert ) Cwynar. Also surviving are her grandchildren Melody Norman and Matthew ( Christina ) Cwynar. In 2008 she lost her son William. Visitation will be held at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth on Sunday, March 9th from 3 pm until 8 pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:30 am at the funeral home with Father Thomas Belczak of St. Kenneth Catholic Church of Plymouth officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Plymouth.
