Michael John Poszywak, age 58 passed away on November 2, 2022.
He was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 30, 1964 to his parents, John H. and Nancy L. (Zwolan) Poszywak.
Michael is the loving son of Nancy L. Poszywak. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his sisters and brothers, Thomas Poszywak, Karen (Craig) Cartmill, Sharon (Derek) Thews and the late Dave Poszywak; proud uncle of Tyler Poszywak, Angelina Poszywak, Ian (Becca) Cartmill, Sarah Poszywak, Daniel Poszywak, Owen Poszywak and Evan Poszywak and great-uncle to Madison Cartmill and Lucy Poszywak.
He is pre-deceased by his father, John H. Poszywak and his brother, David A. Poszywak.
Mike was a self-sacrificial and humble servant of the Lord. Mike would stop at nothing to care for anyone in need at any given time, without being asked. He would always greet each individual and make them feel important and special, one of his favorite sayings was "thanks for all you do for us", this being said to any individual he encountered, as he wanted all to feel of value in this world and life.
He was a very loving and kind son, brother, uncle, and friend. Mike was a wonderful son to his father and mother; he honored our parents dearly and will be deeply missed. His smile and laughter were contagious, and his witty sense of humor never left for a dull moment. He was a jokester, laughing and carrying on.
He was an avid outdoorsman. He hiked Isle Royale several times.
A tent, the woods, his camping gear and his guitar would be how he described Heaven.
Mike loved to spend time with friends and family, cooking, camping, playing games, Scrabble being one of his favorites *he cheated because he literally memorized the dictionary*.
He was very free-spirited open-minded musically.
Mike was a very good guitarist who wrote and recorded his own music alongside our brother, Tom. Mike was a visionary. He was brilliant and an all-around engineer and inventor. He went to Lawrence Tech University and received his Engineering degree, then attended Oakland University to complete a Master's degree in Control Engineering. He also was a Professor at Lawrence Tech to help develop the future Engineers in the Undergraduate Electrical Engineer Degree Program for many years. He worked in the auto industry and private sector with the U.S. Government on some projects as well. He was successful in academia and most importantly, loved by his family and those who were close to him. Mike or Michael is a very common name to be heard, but each one is unique in its own way.
Michael John Poszywak was our unique Mike. We will miss his smile and will carry him in our hearts forever.
Private services for family only will be held.
