Matthew Zaremba passed away December 20, 2014 at the age of 67. He is the beloved husband of Sandra J., dearest father of Mandy R.(Jeremy)Perdue and dear grandfather of Lydia and Lucas. Son of the late Genevieve Zaremba. He is the dear brother of Edward Zaremba, Frank(Carol)Zaremba, Rosemarie(Jeff Stickney)Zaremba and Wanda (Dennis)Roame. He is also the beloved uncle of many nieces and nephews. Matthew retired September 30, 2014 as a teacher for 40 years from the Woodhaven Schools. He taught mainly 5th and 6th grade, but through the years taught many grades. He loved teaching and loved all of his students. Matthew won a newspaper award as a young boy and has a picture shaking hands with then Detroit Mayor Cavanaugh. He loved to ski and play tennis. He was also an entertainer, playing his guitar named "Martin". Over the years Matthew wrote songs for many different occasions. Matthew was involved in Project GREAT and Safety Town. After attending a seminar given by Waste Management, he introduced a recycling program to the school district. He was named Teacher of the Year in 97-98 for the Tri County Area and was recognized by Governor Granholm. Matthew mostly loved spending time with his family. He is deeply loved and will be missed by many. A Funeral Service will take place at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main St., Plymouth, Tuesday (December 23, 2014) at 1:30pm. Friends may visit Monday 3pm until 9pm. Memorials may be made to the family.
