Maryann Smiatacz of Plymouth, passed away February 1, 2017, at the age of 82. She was born in Detroit, Michigan to Walter and Mary (nee Wisniewski) Leszczewicz. Maryann is survived by her 5 loving children Ann (Regis) Buckley, Mark Smiatacz, Pamela (Mark) Little, Donna (Scott) Cargill, and David (Marilyn) Smiatacz, her 17 grandchildren, and 42 great-grandchildren. Maryann was preceded in death by her beloved husband Chester Smiatacz, and both of her parents Walter and Mary Leszczewicz.
Maryann enjoyed gardening, cooking, music, and her Polish heritage. Maryann had a great sense of humor that gave joy to the residents and staff at Independence Village in Plymouth. She was a devout Catholic and life-long member of the Daughters of Isabella. Most of all, Maryann loved her husband Chester, her 5 children, 17 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 4, from 2-7pm with a Rosary Service at 6pm and Sunday, February 5, from 2-6pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main, Plymouth, 48170. Her Funeral Mass will be Monday, February 6, at 10:30am at St. Colette Catholic Church, 17600 Newburgh Road, Livonia, 48152. Family and friends may begin visiting the Church at 10am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Right to Life, or a Mass Offering. Envelopes will be provided at the Funeral Home.
