Mary Elizabeth Pfeiffer of Plymouth, Michigan passed away Tuesday, March 28 at age 90. She was a lifelong Michigander, living in Detroit and Plymouth all her nine decades.
Mary was born May 16, 1932 to James and Catherine (Crane) Stevens. She graduated from St. Mary of Redford in 1950 and married Edwin Pfeiffer in 1954. They were married 41 years until his death in 1995.
Mary was a beloved community member in her former neighborhood on Thornridge, where she could often be found on her porch chatting with neighbors and friends. She was a regular attendee at St. Kenneth Catholic Church and a frequent visitor at Plymouth Township Station No. 2, whose firefighters enjoyed many baked goods over the years.
“Mother Mary” was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt known for a quick joke and for always having a stash of homemade candy or raspberry jam to send home with her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband; her daughter, Nancy Fisher; her sisters, Anna Jo Kenney and Virginia Stevens; and brothers, James Stevens and John Stevens. She is survived by her daughters, Anne Marie Klene (Richard) and Mary Genrich (Michael).
She is also survived by her sister Kathleen Sumner, her son-in-law, Edward Fisher (Liz Davis); and her grandchildren, Shannon Fisher (Jason Howes); Mitchell Fisher; Nicole Trublowski (Matt); Michael Genrich (Whitney); Jessica Martin (Michael); Jake Genrich (Ryan Heuton); Catherine Klene (Jamie Fike); Ben Klene; Jacqueline Glauert (Joe); and 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Mary’s family is grateful to the staff of Independence Village and Corsocare Hospice for their support and care during Mary’s passing.
A funeral Mass and memorial service celebrating Mary’s life will take place July 1, 2023 at 10:00 am, St Kenneth Church, Plymouth, Michigan.
