Marlene Louise Gaibrois, of Livonia and Naples, Florida, passed away March 23, 2017 at the age of 82. She was born in Detroit to Raymond and Sylvia (nee Gurka) Chestney. Marlene was the beloved wife of Gilbert Gaibrois for just over 60 years. She is also survived by her loving children Leslie (Richard) Skillman, and Paul (Lisa) Gaibrois, her precious grandchildren Lindsay and Thomas Skillman, and her sweet little granddog Martini. Marlene was preceded in death by both of her parents.
Marlene worked over 30 years for the Livonia Public Schools and was also a Probation Officer in Livonia. She worked for Detroit Edison where her beauty and grace earned her the title of Miss Detroit Edison. It's at Detroit Edison where Marlene met and eventually married Gilbert. Marlene loved Naples where she and Gilbert enjoyed many sunset dinners on the beach. She was also a member of the Annie Oakley group where she loved participating in the activities and parades. She enjoyed cruising in the Caribbean and playing with the Buffalos! Marlene was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and she will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be Monday, March 27, from 3-8pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main, Plymouth, 48170. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, March 28, at 11am. Family and friends may begin visiting the funeral home at 10am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Detroit Children’s Hospital.
