Marlene Elizabeth McDonald, age 89 of Midland and formerly of Plymouth, passed away on March 23, 2020 after being in hospice. Her husband for 54 years, Charles W. McDonald passed away in 2010. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 19, 1931 to the late Clare and Florence Scherer. Marlene is the beloved mother of Timothy McDonald (Patricia), Thomas McDonald (Coleen), Margaret Grzesiak (Brian), Charles McDonald (Debbie) and Terrance McDonald. She is the loving Grandma to Kathleen McDonald, Michael McDonald, Patrick McDonald, Christopher McDonald, Kevin McDonald, Matthew McDonald, Benjamin McDonald, Bridget McDonald, Katharine McDonald, Nickolas McDonald and Andrew McDonald.
Marlene was a religious woman, a devout Catholic who enjoyed going to daily Mass at St. Kenneth Catholic Church in Plymouth. She was active in most of the Church activities and functions. She enjoyed playing golf and bowling. Marlene loved to spend quality time with her family and watching birds. She enjoyed playing cards, especially with her grandchildren, teaching them how to play “King’s Corner” and “Hand and Foot.” In her down time, Marlene found joy in gardening, listening to old band music and reading a good book. Marlene was a deeply loved woman and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Her wake will be Thursday, July 23, 2020 from 5:00- 8:00 p.m at Schrader-Howell Funeral Home in Plymouth, MI. Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. The memorial mass will be at St. Kenneth Catholic Church in Plymouth, MI at 10:30a.m. Friends may visit at church beginning at 10a.m.
