Mark Richard Siegrist, age 51 of Garden City passed away on November 27, 2022. He was born in Sterling Heights, Michigan on January 26, 1971 to his parents James Francis and Diane (née Schurer) Smith.
He is the beloved and devoted husband of Candace (née Jefferson) Siegrist; loving father of three children – Gregory Siegrist, Victoria (Jacob Vanooyen) Siegrist and Mark James (Emily Benn) Siegrist. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his siblings, Michael Siegrist and Michelle Keener and his in-laws, Greg and Diane Jefferson who loved him like a son, took care of him and were always there for him. Mark’s death is a huge loss to both families. He is pre-deceased by his brother, John Siegrist and his father, James Siegrist; He will also be dearly missed by his dog, “Peaches” that followed him like a shadow, and his cat, “Pixel” along with his grand-pups, “Louie” and “Brodie”.
Mark’s family says he “is the life of the party.” He was very social and entertaining at any get-together and was extremely good at mixing with people. He was at the center of activity during social gatherings and was always ready with his quick wit to make people laugh. Mark liked to impart his knowledge on you. So, if you were talking to him, you likely walked away with some random history fact.
He was also an avid fisherman. Mark could be “the life of the party” and he could also relax on a warm summer afternoon with a fishing pole and relax by just waiting for that tug on his line in anticipation of reeling one in. It was more about the thrill, the challenge and the sense of fulfillment.
Another one of Mark’s hobbies was vegetable gardening. Just like fishing, vegetable gardening created a connection with nature and taught him to be patient as he watched for vegetables as they would begin their process of growing. It was a great escape in a busy and noisy world. And again, like fishing, it was a quiet and relaxing hobby that gave him that feeling of peace and a connection with the beauty of the world.
