Mark H. Forsthoefel, age 82 passed away on September 1, 2010 at St. Mary Mercy Hospital in Livonia. Mark was born on July 28, 1928, the son of Gregory F. and Ursula (Desch) Forsthoefel. He served with the United States Navy after World War II and later graduated from St. Joseph College in Rensselaer, Indiana with his BA degree. He received his Masters in History from the University of Toledo. He taught at both Lowrey and Fordson High Schools in Dearborn retiring after 34 years of service in 1987. He also taught at Henry Ford Community College and during his summer time break he worked for various race tracks including Northville, Hazel Park and the old Detroit Race Course. He was quite active with St. Vincent de Paul in Family Services and also with his church, Our Lady of Good Counsel of Plymouth. He was a beloved and " great " husband, father, grandfather and brother. Mark is survived by his wife of 58 years Joan and his children Elizabeth " Libby " (Edward ) Roberge, Mark (Linda), Joseph, Thomas (Beth), Joanne and James Forsthoefel. Nine grandchildren, Alexander, Vincent, Jacqueline, Whitney, Carly, Sarah, Andrew, Caitlin and Luke along with one sister and three brothers also survive. Visitation will be held at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth on Thursday and Friday from 3pm - 8pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 10am until time of Funeral Mass at 10:30am from Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 47650 North Territorial Road at Beck, Plymouth. In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to St. Vincent de Paul.
