Marilyn A. Seippel, a loving mother, grandmother, and friend has peacefully passed away in Livonia, Michigan. She was born on March 4, 1936 in Midland, Michigan, to her late parents, Harold and Marian (Leach) Lange.
After raising three children, she went back to school at age 40 and obtained an Associate’s Degree in Health Information Management, started working in medical records at Oakwood Hospital in Canton, eventually working her way up to Hospital Administrator before retiring in 1996. After retirement, she volunteered at the Penn Theatre for 10 years.
Marilyn had many interests and passions. She started painting lessons at the age of 60. She was an avid reader and book club member. She loved traveling with the Nomads, visiting beautiful places like Antigua, Costa Rico, Yosemite, Sedona, Grand Canyon, and Ashville. She also enjoyed spending time at the family cabin on beautiful Long Lake near Traverse City.
She found great enjoyment in making and keeping family memories. She especially loved participating in our family tournaments such as March Madness Basketball Brackets and the Annual Seippel Euchre Tournament, which included her taking the trophy in 2019. Just recently, she became a passionate Lions fan, never missing a game this past season. But most of all, she enjoyed watching her four beautiful great grandchildren grow and thrive.
Marilyn will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends. She is survived by her sons, Steven (Sally) and Jeffrey (Lori), along with their children Kurt, Chad, Sarah, Kyle, and Blake. Her daughter Kristine (Kent) Barnes also mourns the loss of her beloved mother.
In this time of grief, it is important to remember the joy Marilyn brought to those around her and the legacy of compassion she leaves behind. Marilyn’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her. May she rest in peace knowing that she made a difference in the lives of so many and that her spirit lives on through those she loved.
A Memorial Gathering to celebrate Marilyn's life will be held on March 3, 2024, at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home in Plymouth, Michigan. The gathering will begin at 1:00 PM and conclude at 3:00 PM. After the gathering, please join the family for food and refreshments at Stella’s in Plymouth, from 3:00 – 5:00 PM.
Those who wish to honor Marilyn's memory may consider a donation to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation (https://www.helpfightra.org) or Friends of the Penn Theatre (https://www.penntheatre.com/donation.html).
