Marilyn Nagy passed away at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor on Wednesday, October 17, 2012. Marilyn was born in Highland Park, Michigan the daughter of Harry E. and Opal C.(Scott)Mertens. She graduated from Western High School in Detroit and received her Bachelor's degree in Home Economics with minors in English and the Natural Sciences from Michigan State Normal College, now Eastern Michigan University in 1954. That same year she married Andrew R. Nagy at Holy Redeemer Church in Detroit and together they shared 29 years of married life until his passing in 1983. The family resided in Detroit until 1978, then moving to Southfield where she lived until 2004. Currently she has resided in Chelsea. After her husbands death she worked at the Arbor Cafe in Farmington Hills both in food preparation and serving. Her specialities were salads and sandwiches and also Mexican style dishes. She also served as a Girl Scout Leader and a Cub Scout Den Mother and after moving to Chelsea became active in the local Ladies Red Hat group, the Scarlet Ladies of Chelsea. She was also a collector, one of her interests were Boyd's Bears. But more then anything else she was a devoted wife and mother trying all the time to bring joy and enrichment to her husband and four children. She is survived her her children, Linda ( Stephen ) Herridge, Robert C. ( Frank Butler ) Nagy, Carol ( David ) DeHaan and Diana ( Jim ) Predhomme. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Andrew and Renee Predhomme. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm at Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, 901 North Main Street, Chelsea and from 5pm until 9pm Sunday at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth. A Funeral Mass will be said on Monday, October 22, 2012, 11am at St. Kenneth Catholic Church, 14951 Haggerty Road, Plymouth. Visitation will begin at 10am. Contributions are suggested to the Parkinson Foundation or the American Heart Association.
